I have a chainsaw which starts well but will not run when the throttle is increased. As soon as I press the trigger the engine sounds as though it is being choked and then dies. I have been told that it may be caused by the crankshaft seals failing. the problem started some time ago and the problem got worse the more i used the chainsaw. Now it starts but will not run above a tickover
Could be a blocked jet in the carb or maybe the cold weather has upset the carb settings and they need bringing into line.
Try increasing the LOW fuel jet setting 1/8 to 1/4 turn out - its the one labelled L and see if it picks up.

Crank seals if damaged will make it run lean not rich, with high erratic tick over, and over reving, running rich can be air filter blocked, exhaust port/muffler blocked, far to much oil in the fuel, incorrect carb settings.
