Mend Need New Gearbox

do i need a new gearbox?

My car's timing chain broke and we had to have a new engine fitted, ever since this the car is jerking every few miles and seems to have trouble getting into gear(Its Automatic) no the engin light has come on, the car seems to be costing more in repairs that I paid for it...please help?

from the sounds of it, when new engine was fitted, some of the gearbox fluid was lost and not replaced, but as you do not give make/model/year of car, can only suggest you take it back to where work was done and get them to fix it.
