Mend Renault Megane Scenic 1999

Automatic gearbox fail?

Hi we have a Renault Megane scenic 1999 model 2.0. I was driving the car and it would not go into drive it kept going backwards like it was coasting. What would you recommend needs doing can I get into the automatic gearbox to fix the problem or would I need a new gearbox.

It's NOT oil level if it works OK in Rev. Broken band will give no drive. To test for this:- hold gear lever slightly out of 'D' position so the display dosn't show what gear you are in. It's a bit tricky but after a couple of secs will go ilto limp (3rd) and drive off. Allowing the lever to spring into D will lose drive again.
