Mend Bosch KSR30425 Fridge Compressor House

Bosch KSR 30425 fridge Compressor siezed and contaminated, can it be fixed?

We moved house recently, left the fridge to stand, maybe not quite long enough! power to the unit, makes the right noises however temprature light flashes after a short time of being plugged in, fridge does not get cold. I had an engineer come out he diagnosed the fault as siezed compressor piston. Apparantly the system is contaminated and can not be repaired, is this the case?

without breaking in to the system it is difficult to say.if the compressor buzzes and then clicks off after a few seconds it does tend to say compressor is broken.compressor plus regas plus dryer will be £200-£300 so best to buy a new one in lots of cases!
