yard machines lawn mower w/ 15.5 hp Tecumseh engine?

after running my mower for 5 minutes it wont start up again for awhile i have removed the spark plug and get no spark do you think it could be the Alternator Coil or the Solid State Ignition or could it be something esle is there a way of testing the Solid State Ignition to see if thats the problem
