i have a vauxhall astra van 17td v reg and it seems to lack power almost like the turbo isnt working, looses power up hills and just seems really flat,also chucks out lots of black smoke when revs hard. had the egr valve out and cleaned it and seems to be fine. what else could it be??

take a look at the actuator arm on the turbo make sure it moves that is not stuck . next if theres no boost leaks you need to check you deff have boost or turbo pressure by fitting a gauge or by live data on diagnostics if the ecu will tell you the pressure. if that checks out ok check the crank cam and pump timing in case its jumpt a tooth

today i have replaced the air flow meter and put a blanking plate on the agr valve, also i have had it in at a diagnostics place they have told me to do all of the above as it is low on air flow!! still no difference tho. Any more ideas??

have you tried a code reader on it?you could have a look at intercooler hoses for splits,leaks and if possible remove inlet to turbo and feel the impeller for wear/play
