Mend Vax Shampower Out Stop Idea

the water keeps running out of my vax shampoer when I stop it any idea what?

when I am using my upright vax shampoer it seems to go ok ,but when I stop it if there is any water left in it ,it just runs out of it and the floor is soaking wet any suggestions as to what the problem might be.
