Mend Panasonic DMR-EZ45VEBS Sound Channels Dvd

How can I fix the sound on digital channels?

I have a Panasonic DVD recorder DMR-EZ45VEBS. It is 4 years old. Over the last year the sound on the digital channels has become more and more distorted and echoey, until now I can only watch analogue.
Can anyone give me a clue as to why this happens and how to fix it please?
