Hi I have similar problem, it stays on for 2-3 secs from standby but turning off and then back on at the switch does nothing.
Had this problem from about 14 months old, took it back to Dixons and they refused to do anything with it, used the EU Law guidelines about sale of goods not working for an expected reasonable amount of time, they still refused and started to look threatening, will never ever buy anything from them again. Wanted to sue them but the wife said not worth it. Tried Goodmans but got nowhere.
Gave the TV to a repair company - they could not replicate the problem. Realised that the way they transported may have had an affect, so one solution was to hold the stand down and apply pressure at the top of the screen (ie lay it down flat with the stand attached) - doesn't work anymore. It also emits a high pitch noise from the electronics which gets annoying once we get the TV working. I think the problem may be in the close tolerances for the assembly, ie too tight.
Will also never buy Goodmans again.
