philips widescreen tv problem?

we have a 28" philips widescreen model number 28pw6006/05. the unit developed a fault on new years eve [typical!] where the unit switches itself into standby mode after a few seconds when it is turned either by the main on off switch or by using the remote to bring it back out of standby. weve tried replacing batteries in remotes, moving rogue remotes to other rooms, swearing at it etc!

I also have a Philips widescreen model nr. 28PW6006 which I bought i Sweden during summer of 2002. Now in FEB/2005, it turns it self of after a few minutes or secunds, before it does so the picture goes red and blurry. I dont know what to do.
I have always taken good care of my set. This strange problem 2,5 years later is mystical to me.

I got the exact same problem. If you discover what it is please let me know. I've tried checking for dry joints, by passing the mains in board, disconnecting the all the boards and It seems to be coming from the main board. I timed it and found that sometimes it switches off after 3 secons and other times 75 seconds. It's driving me insane. johnny_fitz@vodafone.ie
