Mend Hoover Family 1300 Machine Load Today

the flap on detergent compartment of machine won't close?

I have a Hoover Family 1300,mega load. To-day, I took out and cleaned the detergent compartment. When I put it back in, I noticed the flap where your hand goes,doesn't click back. Have I lost a spring?
