Mend Alba Tv Remote Channel

alba tv?

Alba TV remote control. When you switch of the TV with the remote control the screen goes white for a few seconds then goes back on the channel. It will not switch the TV off. I have asked in the shop they say it is not the remote but the TV can somebody please help me.
It does however switch off when using the off switch on the TV
