How to fix my RDVD1006 - Flashing on standby?

We had a power cut last night and now my dvd recorder wont work, it just flashes on standby and none of the buttons on recorder or remote do anything. Tried phoning Alba for advice, best they could do was turn off turn on, funilly enough that did nothing!!
