Mend Light Night Changed

How to detect a faulty ceiling bulb holder?

My light bulb exploded last night on ceiling corridor. I changed the light bulb, but it doesn't light up.
How can I know if it is my light bulb holder?

Take the light bulb to another holder - if it works in the new place then the suspect holder is probably defective - isolate the power - unscrew it and inspect it - a new holder and flex pre assembled may be bought at a DIY supermarket for about £2
