gears?

i have a 2.0 gti mk3 golf. my gear slips when going in reverse, does it mean it can be low on gearbox oil, or is the gear box on its way out, can anyone help.

do you mean it jumps out of gear? if it is ok in the forward gears,I think I would put up with it to save you a big bill for a new box.
