Mend Fit New Light Fitting

how to fit a new light fitting in the lounge?

We are trying to fit a new light in the lounge, but when we removed the old fitting we found 2 wire bundles,we wired all the same colours together but blew the switch, any help would be appreciated

Go to Google - Select Images - Enter Ceiling Rose - Observe the wire colouring scheme - alternatively engage the services of a polite tradesman.
