Have bought flush fit bathroom light fitting. have connected the 2 red wires together (permanent live?), connected one black to the blue wire on the new light and the other black (switched) to the brown wire on the light. it wont turn off. please help
It sounds as if you have connected the main supply to the light rather than the switched supply. You really should get a competent electrician in. You are are asking for trouble (shock or fire) if you do not.

It is illegal in the UK to do DIY this kind of electrical work in a bathroom. Get an electrician before you kill someone.
