Mend Volkswagen Golf GTi 2.0 20 Cut Changed

Why doe's my golf GTi 2.0 cut out at 3000 rev's?

I have a golf GTi 2.0 1997 and the engine cuts out when you get to around 3000 rev's, we have changed most of cencers and distributor and it still cuts out. the garage computer says it the cranksharft cencer but this has been replaced, can any one help.
