Why won't my printer print after changing the ink cart? HP Deskjet D1320?

The power light was blinking. I raise the cover and exchange the cart. with a refill. I've used refills before with no trouble. I was able to get the light to stop blinking. It sounds like its getting ready to but never does. The computer say and error, but doesn't tell me what kind. Please help me! I have stories to copy and send out for contests. Please HELP!
