BT freestyle 2500 showing in use and wont reset with handsets out of range?

Hi I have a base unit which is showing constantly in use and will not allow me to reset the hansets(3) by holding the page key. All handsets are also showing out of range and because of the above not allowing me to reregister does anyone have any other advise ?
