dishwasher not emptying or filling up?

my dishwasher is not emptying or fulling up, you can hear the motor humming but nothing happens, it worked fine on the previous cycle about 2 hours previous. we have tilted it to drain all the water out and done the usual turn off and on again but nothing happens.
