ticking noise coming from the bottom of the motor on my 89 gsxr 750?

a loose camchain will make a noise at the top not the bottom,does the noise get worse of you put it under load or get quieter ?so put it in gear and hold the brake on and let the clutch out until its just biting and see if it gets noisier or quieter.it amy well be number 2 or 3 big and knocking its a common problem seen loads of them as i used to work in a suzuki dealers.
