My truck won't start?

Hi

My Iveco 75e15 Cargo,won't start.

Yesterday morning it started first time,wiile it was idling to build up air,the engine started idling eractickly,& it cut out.I started it again & not long it cut out again,with a big puff of smoke coming out from the exhaust.

This is my first time I've ever experienced a problem like this.

A few days ago,my wife got stucked with our pick up,where she ran out of diesel,& my only solution at the time I thought was to drain diesel from my truck,which i tried turning,what looked like a drain plug at the bottom of the diesel tank,which did'nt seem to loosen,it just kept turning,whereby I resorted to syphoning diesel from the tank by using a pipe.

I don't know if one of the above contributed to the problem,or what else it could be.

Please can anybody with the knowledge of how to solve this problem help me,I would kindly appreciatte it
