Mend Renault Megane Brakes

2000 model megane braking issue?

When I'm braking, I hear (and fell thro' the brake pedal) a spring effect just prior to coming to a halt. The brakes are working well, but when I press the brake and start the engine, the pedal does not go to the floor! I'm assuming a servo problem! Any ideas?
