Mend Electrolux 6500 Vacuum Repair

Electrolux Epic 6500 power head will not turn on?

I can not use the power head - the hands tools work with the cannister but no the power head. I know the power head has a motor in it. How can i fix it short of shelling out $ money for a completely new vacuum. Thank you
