Mend Sony DHC-FL3 Model Display Power

How can I fix my sony HiFi system model no.DHC-FL3?

The display popped up saying protect,push power I looked at the manual and it said if this came up it was due to short circuit or power surge and to unplug and leave off for a while then turn back on and it should have reset itself but it didn't work and not sure why this happened anyway as it was plugged into a surge protected outlet.PLEASE HELP
