speedo keeps droping to 0?

Hi i have a ford focus x reg 2.0l
When i am driving now and again the speedo drops to 0. Then the traction control come on then the car just stops. Any idea what this is

clocks are knackered put them in self test mode by pressing the trip button in with the ignition off keep your finger on, turn ignition on until clocks start to move around on their own and if you notice anything unusual you need to change your clocks!
