How do I repair my power head?

My power head on my Kenmore Whispertone 200 power mate 12 amp will not spin. Should the motor spin freely when I take the power head apart? mine doesn't does this mean I need a new power head?

Yes, the motor shaft should spin freely, especially when the belt is off the shaft. If it does not, the end bearing/ bushing has seized and the motor assembly needs replacement. I replace them all the time at my vac. shop, especially on the older Powermates. It is cheaper to replace the motor than replace the entire nozzle.
