Try the fuse first but if its an electric one then often people try to cut grass which is much too lon/wet/thick and simply burn out the motor. Check if the underneath is all clogged up with grass around the cntre of the rotor and remove this as well before trying to restart it as just sometimes the smoke is caused by friction on the grass contacting with the highly spinning blabe central rotor.Hope this helps

Unless it's quite new (and under guarantee) it could be the motor which is not good news I'm afraid.
