PFAFF 1171 seized up form lack of use?

Hi I have owned and wore out several pfaff 1171 I purchased one on ebay the seller claimed it only had 10 hours on it and was like new. The machine does look brand new there was a reciept for 1987. The bobbin case looks like it has never been used. The machine can't run it buzzes you can hear the load but it can't run. You cannot turn the hand crank on the side either. Well if you try really hard it will move a bit.

I was very dissapointed I spent $300 on this machine hoping to get an almost new of my favorite machine. I sew as a business and love this model. I have a new pfaff 4.0 and still go back to my old 1171 which is very old and very used by me. It throws a straight stitch in a zig zag and visa versa.

I am sorry this is long, I am fairly mechanically inclined if properly directed. I once changed a ciruit board on one from a scrap one when the service guy told me they didn't make the part and I needed to junk the machine. I am wondering if there is way to free this seized one up. If not would I be able to put the motor from my old 1171 in the seized one that is like new (assuming of course that it is the motor)?

I checked the bobbin hook and there are no threads in the bobbin area it looks like it was never used. Also there are no threads caught in the top of the machine.

Hopefully I have been clear enough I would really like to be able to fix this machine after spending $300 on it.

Thanking you in advance for your time.

Hello Kim,
Definitely sounds like a cotton jam, I would force the balance wheel backwards and see if it frees off, if it does not then check the belts if it has an inside motor which it probably has, if the motor rund when the stop motion is released then it won't be motor problems, finally I would oil all moving parts with WD40 and leave it overnight and then try, if you still can't get the machine going after that the there is a possibility that the machine may have been dropped.
