How to fix a Zanussi washer that stopped spinning?

Our Zanussi electrolux washing machine (model ZWF 12280) stopped spinning completely after a few washes where it became very loud when spinning but worked OK. No leaks or anything else wrong it seems. It drained OK.
Is it something we can fix ourselves ? Do we need to replace any parts ? We're on a tight budget...

if its a motor fault or a bearing fault its going to cost a fair amount of money.difficult to diagnose without seing it and hearing it
