how can i fix the tension on my brothervx860 sewing machine?

Hello Ann,
Make sure the pressure foot is up when you thread the machine, top tension about 4 or 5 you should be able to pull the bobbin thread through with slight resistence, if you need to slacken the bobbin thread turn the screw on the bobbin case a quarter of a turn at a time anti clockwise and test sew.
