Mend Sentinel SL8 System Battery Remote

sl8 intruder alarm control system?

I have purchased a new battery and have fitted it but there is still nothing showing on the remote key pad. Do I have to press something to re set it or what?
I cannot understand the hand book!

it should operate on the electricity mains even without the battery as the battery is only used if the mains fail. so it may well be worth looking to see if any of the fuses are blown inside the panel.
