Laptop still works via external monitor ?

My Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop has I have been told
developed screen corruption but still works recently when I connected an external monitor but do not hold out much hope for how much longer this will function.

Either the connectors between the laptop screen and graphics card have burnt out, or your laptop screen itself has gone bad. You should still be able to use an external for a long time... but then it's just like a desktop isn't it.
