Mend Boiler Heating Pipes

Boiler making loud pitched noise when water turned on?

I was in the bath and the boiler started to make this loud whinning noise which got louder. Appears to come from the boiler or pipes around the boiler. Before calling an engineer, does anyone know how to resolve this. The boiler is a back boiler behind the fire place?
