Mend Carver 1800 Spark Gas Years

no spark on carver 1800?

Hi i have just got a caravan but the gas fire will not spark, it has been stood for 5 years. If i remove the glass viewing part and place a gas igniter inside, the fire works, so just no spark, how do i fix this? thanks
