how di i turn off the hot water?

on a conventional boiler you will find a red coloured tap(looks like a rose). turn it anti-clockwise till the water stops running. turn it back again about 1/4 turn to stop it sealing and becoming stuck

if you have got a separate hot water tank you turn off the RED GATE VALVE this will be on the outlet side of the tank and will be feeding ALL the hot taps in the house.
NOTE
this tap can be very stiff due to its lack of use and internal corrosion,(lime scale) remove the tap head and work the spindle in BOTH directions by the use of a small adjustable spanner finally fully close the tap
