Mend Baumatic B147SS New Element Work

New element doesn't work and seems to have blown oven?

Previously my Baumatic B147SS oven had stopped heating up, but everything else was still working ie fan, grill. When I replaced the element and turned the oven on the lights came on for a brief second, went off again and now nothing works. The element for my model was no longer in supply but I replaced it with the recommended one. Voltage of both elements are the same. any ideas?
