replacement of heating element ?

My boiler is not doing nothing right now, it went off by it self couple months ago, since it was so hot out, I did not worry to much. However one day it came back on and now is gone again. I tried the three second run hot tap and hit the boiler on the right side, but it do not work. What else can be wrong?
