Mend Ford Focus 1999 Problem

Problem with ford focus 1999 not starting with new remote fob on key?

Hi,
I have just brought a new fob as my old one no longer works for central locking.
I have made the new fob work for opening/locking door by using the "switch from 0-2 position 4 times", but the engine will not start, or make any attempt to.
Is there a solution?

the key is turn the key from 2-3 4 times in 6 seconds, then press unlock on the fob and the car will beep, then u r done....
