How can I fix my soap dispenser in my Ariston dishwasher?

The soap dispenser in my Ariston dishwasher fails to open during the cycle. When the cycle has ended and I open the draw the powder is all wet.

My mum had the same problem now she puts the wash tablet in a little plastic basket like the dishwasher freshner comes in and hangs it on the crockery basket. It works great no need for the dispenser to open.
