Mend Dell Inspirion 1525 Battery Light Week

battery light - purple and orange - Inspirion 1525?

My battery light went red last week and would not go away. I bought a new battery and now it turns purple, then blue, then all of a sudden it is orange and sometimes it blinks...any ideas?
