how can i stop the dvd disc from spitting back out?

i have a Durabrand DBDVR01 DVD/VCR Recorder, it's all running but the dvd won't stay in the trat, it loads for 2 seconds then spits back out, i know it's not the type of disc thats wrong so how can i stop it from doing this?
