How can I fix the eject botton?

I have a Sony video camera recorder model CCD-V88E. When I press the eject botton the cassette compartment opens slightly but not enough to insert the cassette in and comes up only half way. Sometimes it just goes back again and sometimes just stays open half way. I have several cassettes that they are the old size as the camera recorder is ols too. (1997 model) I want to correct this fault only because I want to look at my old cassettes and can not play them on any other camera because of the size of them. Please can you advice me what to do.
