how do you fix a dishlex dx302 ?

Just for info - I used this repair (re-soldering the relay joints) years ago when my Dishlex (DX302) stopped heating. it worked a treat then. Well this week, my dishwasher died completely - no power/lights etc. Re-soldered the relay joints again and it fixed this issue too! Cheers. For those needing the fix, here it is again.

How to do it:

Make sure you turn off the power at the wall and pull out the plug. To get to the circuit board remove the screws on the inside top of the door (top row and one more down each side) and pull out the front panel (where the buttons are).

Press the little clips and the white box containing the circuit board comes free.

Remove all the plugs and lever open the small clips holding the box shut.

After you open the box pull the circuit board up and have a look at the contacts under the black little box (relay). Use a soldering iron and some flux cored solder and redo the joints.

Put it all back together and turn on to see how it goes.

I had same problem husband soldered it put it back together!!!!! Now when i turn power on it starts straigh away sounds like its draining. Can not select any buttons as no lights showing up

The other day my DX320 decided not to drain completely, we did a "dry load" (no dishes in the dishwasher) and that seemed to fix that problem... we used it a couple more times, everything was fine, but now all I get when I turn it on is "- -" flashing along with ALL of the other lights at the same time and won't let me do anything... HELP!!! I need this thing - I'm fresh out of an operating room and can't stand long enough to do dishes :( can someone please email me to tell me what to do (I can't follow on here - it's all over the place :/ ) and I don't know how to solder... someone please help :(

No heat. Came across this site by chance - Brilliant ! Ours was the solder splattered variety. I suspect a partially dry joint which went high resistance like a fuse. Followed the instructions, took half hour. Thanks.

Anyone had this problem before?

When I power ON my Dishlex 302, only the 2 "--" dashlines on the LCD displays appear.

No green lights on the LED's and thus I could not use my dishwasher.

When I press the "Start" button, "CL" (child lock) appears. I then remove the child lock but still the dishwasher will not run when I press the "Program" button.

No lights on the LED's also. Just the 2 "--" on the LCD.

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Decided that the black box marked NAIS js1-12v ajs 1311 must be the relay referred to. The solder on the boards didn't appear to be faulty but went ahead and resoldered them and hey presto, just as Rob said, the problem was fixed. I've got hot water in the washer again.

Hi. My DX302 has stopped heating so suspect it may be the same circuit board issue. I have taken the board out but there aren't any black spots on it and the solder spots all look normal. Anyway I will resolder the relay but which black box is the relay? Is it the big black box marked NAIS js1-12v ajs 1311, or is it one of the boxes with the visible coil?

Well I wish I had of found this page before I called Elextrolux for service. I'm reasonably handy and so am annoyed as wasting $280 for the 10mins it took to the tech to replace the PCB.

Our DX302 has had an intermittent heating fault for a couple of weeks until it finally stopped heating on Wednesday. A little Google later and I'm reading this thread. $11.00 for a cheap soldering iron and some fluxed solder followed by some work doing what's described below and hey presto! One working dishwasher. Your right about the Relay found it from this site great thanks I also noticed that all the other solder connections on the relay where dry joint or crystalline in appearance so if you are repairing resolder all connections. Also there is a coating on the boat for moisture protection it need to be removed before soldering then replaced with a board liqueur

Nice easy solution to solder it yourself, worked wonders. The couple of specifics I'll share that were important:

- Start reading at the bottom of the page!
- Make sure you unplug before doing anything as you can easily short out the wires if you drop anything while unscrewing

- You only need to unscrew the top panel (with the buttons) not the whole door cover (maybe the two short screws on the door cover to release the panel)
- Take a photo of each of the wiring connection points so it's easy to put back later

- While you can unclip and swing the circuit board housing open, the entire housing assembly didn't seem to easily release from the panel

- Once I exposed the circuit board I couldn't see anything wrong, when I gently pushed it up to unclip it from the housing, there was a dirty big black scorch mark where the solder had blown out in behind the relay and you could clearly see the missing solder

- The solder line for the relay runs almost from the wiring at the edge all the way to the point of the relay. Right next to it is a similar line but finishes with a dot... when I mimicked that it didn't work, when I ran the line of solder continuously to the relay joint it worked perfectly.

Hope those points help someone else!

Help!! re-soldered as suggested but I asked a friend to jot down the colour and order of the wires on the control boards and somehow got mixed up!! Does anyone have a wiring diagram or can someone tell me the colour of the wires on the hot, drain and wash terminals.

thanks back to you in 2009 Robbie! about a month ago the switch burnt out (standard problem no1!), replaced switch (new switch is much better by the way and only $17), stopped heating yesterday (standard problem no2)- checked the web and found this fix - sure enough, followed directions, found the weak solder joints - fixed and back in business!

Thanks Rob. My Problem was exactly as you describe. One of the solder contacts to the relay had burnt out. I've re-soldered it but there does not seem to be a lot of circuit board metal left to solder to. I hope my repair holds up. Otherwise will I will have to get a replacement control board. Clearly not a well designed circuit board.

I frickedn love the internet. I had the same problem with my DX302 with water not heating (soap not sissolving). I opened the control module and checked the solder points behind the relay as suggested. One could have been a dry joint but very hard to tell. I resoldered all the connections on the relay and put it back together and ......wham....piping hot water. I'm and electrician but never would have found this fault without this websit thread. Saved me $88 dollar callout fee plus $25 bucks per 15 mins service rate. Thanks Man

Robin, it could be that the 1H display means that the dishwasher is on one hour delayed start. Use the "Delay" button to step through to immediate start.

my dishwasher Electrolux dishlex DX302 wont run, the IH comes up and thats all that will display, how do I fix it to work again. The only thing I did different was check the drain pipe.

Very clear instructions Rob! I had the same problem (obviously a design flaw there) and your solution worked perfectly. I have never, ever used a soldering iron before, much less worked on a control board. Watched a video on YouTube for the soldering skills. Like a novice, on the first attempt I put too much solder on and the dishwasher stopped working at all. Once I corrected that the dishwasher works like new, and better than it has worked for years! The moral of this story is simple :- Just DON'T EVER BUY AN ELECTOLUX PRODUCT.

I have a DX302 and it previously has had a faulty on/off switch and the main cct board replaced like all of the above stories. It has now stopped heating again.

Clearly there is a design flaw and/or manufacturing defect - especially given the number of identical stories above.

I have contacted Electrolux service and they will NOT make any allowance at all on their normal call out service rates.

I escalated it to a person called 'Denise' who said she was the most senior customer liaison manager and all she would do was sprout over and over again their standard call out rates. She was totally and utterly inflexible and refused to stand by the quality of either the Electolux product or service.

The lesson is simple - DO NOT BUY AN ELECTROLUX PRODUCT.

I had the situation where I had no lights on at all - dead. read your comments above and took out the PCB and sure enough a dry joint on one of the relay legs. Cleaned it up and re soldered - worked straight away . Many thanks for your help saved me a few dollars which as a retired person is much appreciated. In NZ the module is about $300 according to the repair man. Cheers

Same again here. Thanks heaps for the solution. I thought I was going bananas as sometimes it seemed that it was heating and sometimes not. I could never work out why sometimes the dishwasher tablet seemed like it had not even started to dissolve. Another upside here too. I actually pulled the dishwasher out and cleaned all the crud that had collected behind it over about the last 4 years!!!

Just did mine.
Yes the relay soldering was pretty ordinary and looked ok but upon closer inspection with a magnifying glass you could see the cracks in the solder joints. 2minutes with the iron and it was solved. if it does it again I'll replace the relay with something more suited for the job.
For those that can't solder you can get the whole module for about $140 bucks

Our dishlex is about 10 years old I think but had stopped heating the water. Following your instructions re finding and removing the PCB I found it had a hairline fracture through the corner where the relay is. Resoldered three broken tracks and now all is well again.

Dishlex DX302 No hot water. Re soldered joints on relay as per previous answers and all ok now. Joints "looked" ok to naked eye but with meter 2 incoming were open circuit and suspect output open cct too.

Hi Robbie. My 302 went through a full cycle but did not heat. Same problem with the soldered joints on the power relay pins. Looks like thermally induced metal fatigue in the joints, a common problem with power components on a circuit board. Being an electronics technician, I've fixed hundreds of similar faults. I suspect the relay contact current rating is barely adequate, causing them to heat and conduct that heat to the soldered joints. How I long for the good 'ole days when appliances were designed by engineers, not by bean counters!

Fantastic! I looked at the circuit board and there didn't appear to be any damage. I did note that one of the joints looked like a dry joint. I re-solered and all is operating again

As described it was the relay unit solder joint.

Hi Robbie,
Does the dishwasher run the whole cycle as normal but the water just doesn't heat? If so most will suggest the heating element. These models however have a congenital fault with the relay used in the control module. I'm 99% certain that if you remove the control module, open it up and at the bottom right of the underside you'll see a blackened solder joint - try cleaning and resoldering it.
