What do you think the problem could be??

Went away and programmed the DVD & VHS for a number of programmes. Came back from hols and only half of the programmes had recorded. Some on DVD some on VHS. Watched those then next day player would not turn on. Have changed the fuse, used a new AC mains cable. Still will not turn on. No clock or lights. Repairers want £50 just to inspect it! Can anyone help me please. Model is Panasonic DMR-ES30VEB and is about 4 years old.
