How to fix the unglued mirrors in HTD501 Sagem TV.

A bit difficult, but not impossible to fix.

Remove plastic cover from lower front of set.

Remove front bottom metal black plate, the one with the service connector.

Remove all screws except top 3 from screen. Just loosen top 3.

Undo 2 screws holding VGA connector in place

Pull bottom of screen forward slightly, Look/feel for 2 connectors behind control panel. Un-plug them.

Remove last 3 screws at top of screen and remove screen
Loosen black plastic "table" that sits above the lens and covers whole of set bottom, several screws plus two on vertical front surface.

Remove upper and RHS lower mirror adjustment allen screws (Easy to re align later) Prise up front of "table" Remove central Philips screw holding lower mirror. (It is necessary to prise up front of table to get to screw. Remove mirror, note spring locations. Remove small plate at bottom of main mirror.

Remove black plastic table.

DLP engine now exposed.

Remove 9 screws holding top plate of light guide and back bracket..

Take light guide top off. You will need to lever it away and up at the back as there is a small lip on upper plate that locates in a slot on the electronics shield behind the light guide. Lever back the shield slightly. (just to left of screw holes where rear bracket fits)

At left you can now see the color wheel, just to the right is a tube held down by a spring plate, unscrew 3 screws remove spring plate.

The light tube will now lift out. It contains 4 slivers of surface silvered mirrors. You will find one or more have come unstuck and no longer form a box section.

Remove mirrors clean and re-glue using high temperature glue as sold on ebay for sticking glass oven door handles on.

To ensure the mirrors are held against the tube walls I used some cotton buds to keep them in place until the glue had set.

Check that the mirrors no longer protrude above the lips at the right hand end of the light tube.

Do not worry if some of the silvering has come off the mirrors, all this means is slightly less light.

Now re-assemble, not forgetting to re-align the lower mirror before fitting the bottom metal panel..

Realign by making sure that the image is level and there are no black edges showing.

best of luck
