peugeot 307 knocking from front ns pls help?

hi there have not long bought a 307 , there is a knocking most of the time when you put the brakes on and get to a slow speed. have replaced; disks+pads,brake caliper,abs sensor and abs pump all to no avail, the only quick fix so far is to dis-connect the sensor but the abs light on dash comes on, but it dose stop the knocking, this makes me think it to do with the abs should the ecu be the next step???. please help many thank kev

Problem on my car was the same, abs light coming on and saying to stop. took of both rear sensors and cleaned the magnetic ring of rust. then when replacing i put a small washer behind the sensor to bring it closer to the magnetic ring on the rear stub axle. Cured the fault straight away.

we have found if you remove senser clean rust from seat & refit this cures rear senser probs every time

common problem on 307's Paul is correct you need to shim the abs sensor (s) to bring it closer to the castellated speed ring . this happened to mine after a recall by peugeot but they would not take responsibility for it even though it was fine before the recall so a local garage did it then took the time to explain it all to me. hope this helps

Had an ABS warning on my 307HDI. every time i used the brakes the ABS was working. Diagnostics said it was a rear sensor.I replaced the sensor and same problem, I then placed a small washer behind the sensor to bring it closer to the castellated ring on the drive shaft, problem solved, the gap was too large for some reason and the sensor could not "pick up".

i have just been to my garage with the same problem. the knocking has been the pump, pumping the brake fluid. The reason it sounds like it is the that side is due to the pump being on that side but my garge said it may be one of the other sensors it is the pump you can hear. The garage put it on the computer and it came up the both rear abs sensors were damaged. they reset the fault and i took the car out and 2 minutes later the abs light came on again i took it back and they checked it again. The computer said it was the rear driver's side sensor. The knocking should stop once the abs light comes on. my car still passed MOT with this fault as the MOT is only looking for the car's computer to follow a specific sequence ie the knocking then the abs light comes on and the knocking stop's. hope this help's.
