vw mk3 golf gti 2ltr 16v 1995 electrical starting problem?

hi mate, my golf is doing the same but with out the light thing!mine starts and runs fine untill i turn it off then i get no spark.ive changed the lead and coil but its still doing it?ive been told it only leaves 2 things, ecu or immobiliser.going two try the cheaper 1 first witch is geting the immobiliser turned off.ill let u know how i get on.steve
