Van will not start.Started first time in the morning. Drove a few miles, stopped van went to shop. Van started again no problem. Stopped again 5 miles later went into work came out 5 min later van would not start. Tried to jump start it still no joy. Engine spinning but will not fire. Its a Volkswagen Transporter, year 2000. 2.5 diesel..

had a new oil cooler fitted drove it home all the light started to fade and battery went flat

it could be that you have air seeping into the fuel system. I had this problem on my 2.5 tdi caravelle. On the last injector there is a rubber bung about 8 mm in diameter, just check that it has not deteriated.

Is immobiliser working ok?if so it sounds like a fuel pump solenoid, i had the same problem on the 1.9 transporter.
